No column or article today, just a quick note to wish our readers a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and/or Winter Holiday. We love that you take the time to open our emails, seek out our articles, and support us with your time, comments, tips, subscriptions, and shares.

I've been trying to think of some way or some specific thing to wish for you in order to make your holiday feel special. Something quintessentially Texan, maybe. But I can do no better than Robert Earl Keen's perfect Texas Christmas carol. It is Texas Christmas perfection.

Merry Christmas, y'all.

Oh, if you want something a little more traditional, a little something to tug your heartstrings... I've always loved Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." Here's a mashup of her singing it for so many years on the Letterman Show. Crank it up, play it on the big TV... it'll make you misty. (Hope everyone got home for your Christmas!)

Chris Newlin worked around Tee-Vee stations before he went out on his own and continued to work in the world of video and multi-media production. Then came iPhones and YouTube accounts, so now he sits around full of self-pity and too many Keystone Lights. He still enjoys sunsets, long walks on the beach, and a good bowel movement, at least every now and then.
